Apparel Investments
Through its portfolio companies MH Knitwear and Planet Sox, Creo Capital Partners is an active investor in the knitwear and hosiery space. These companies are actively pursuing acquisition opportunities and expansions of its brands and licenses.
MH Knitwear (formerly Mountain High Hosiery) was acquired by Creo in late 2006. Through its operating partner Gerald Birin, Creo successfully executed a significant turnaround:
- Improved supplier relationships resulting in enhanced quality and customer service
- Materially increased gross margins
- Material improvement in year-over-year profitability
- Signed exciting new licenses including Sean Jean, And 1, Pony, and others
Plant Sox was acquired by Creo in early 2008. The investment almost doubles the combined company’s revenue and brings with it exciting character licenses such as Disney’s, Hanna Montana High School Musical, and High Scholl Musical 2 franchises, Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer, Diego, and SpongeBob, and many others. The acquisition also brings a team of experienced professionals in the hosiery space, led by Elie Levy, and provides a sales platform in the mass market.
